I moved to Vermont in 1970 and have resided in Orange County since that time. I attended UVM in 1977 and 1978 where I studied flat pattern making, draping and costume design. I have been working with sheepskin for over 30 years and have refined several techniques such as topstitching seams and binding raw edges with lambsuede. Many of my coats are trimmed with Persian or Kalgan lamb, Toscana shearling or a hand quilted lambsuede trim. There is so much attention to detail in my work, making each piece truly unique.
These handcrafted creations are made from the softest Icelandic sheepskins currently being tanned in Spain. The pliability of these skins allow me to use countless innovative techniques such as gathering, pleating and facing which could not be done with the traditional thick and stiff sheepskin. Trims range from velvets, shearling, lamb, to quilted lambsuede. Many of the hats are decorated with velvet flowers and lambsuede leaves which are handmade. Most of the shearling coats that I produce are made with several large skins, which give the coat a long, clean look. The use of large skins in conjunction with the pleats, gathers and assorted trims, set my work apart from others. Antique buttons are an additional feature of my work, adding to the one of a kind quality. I produce over thirty styles of hats, offering both the whimsical and sophisticated. My clothing line is available in retail outlets throughout the United States. The price range of my work starts at $135 for a simple hat up to $3500 for a full length carved lamb coat.
